Post production, or footage processing

Post production is any work with footage. What could it be? Just anything! Colour correction, introduction of special effects, change of size, introduction of animation, stabilization, correction of drawbacks or mistakes, removing “extra” elements, insertion of those missing, combining video materials, etc. Very often it is much easier and cheaper to process the material than to shoot it anew. For example, you want to have a red flying aircraft with your logotype on its side. What shall we do? One way is to find a suitable aircraft, put your logo on it, settle the matter with the pilot and operator, catch the proper weather conditions and get the desirable shot in the end. The process is time-consuming, expensive and the aircraft turns out to be not as red as you wished. So another decision should be considered, and it may be searching video archives for a shot with a suitable aircraft. It is perfectly clear that nobody will ever shoot an aircraft with your logo on its side, and it is not the target. All we need is to find an aircraft that fits into the frame. The rest is technical details and post production. The aircraft is cut out of the shot found in archives, painted to your order, the logo is inserted and here we are with the aircraft and the logo in the frame! The process is quick, relatively cheap and the aircraft of your dream is airborne sooner than you expected. Post production enables us to achieve a lot though not everything.
